Growing Old!

I am seeing more men and women who look, act and are younger than their actual age nowadays. The desire, effort and capability doing things! When I was remembering one such friend, a sudden thought occurred to me.

Why we feel bad about aging. Bad enough to be wanting to be young in mind and body. I do know that aging comes with the package of sore joints, dim vision and poor memory. But can we not accept it as life and not compare with the youthful past? Like youth, old age also has its own advantages. You are wiser, slower, non-impulsive, more-forgiving, less self-conscious, open and talking, willing to listen and share, have lot of time to make friends or socialise, patient and tolerant to mischievous children and many.............................. more good changes in life and attitude! We may not be very strong physically but when in life you have everything perfect? is a balance always!

So, why cant we say I am older and I like it? Like a child, who always wants to grow older. And Friends, who ever is reading this should remember this when I grow older!

Hi, whether you like it or not, express it or not, you are becoming older with every breath you exhale. The visa given to you to stay in this planet is your breaths. Whether you finish it by running or save it by keeping cool is up to you. If you breath at 12-15 breaths /min, a normal human is able to live for 100yrs or so. A dog which breaths at 50/min lives for 15yrs, horse slightly lower 40yrs, the tortoise RR 5-6/min lives for 150 yrs. So you better become a tortoise.

Hello,
my personal view is that you don't need to live longer or even longing to live longer. the most important fact in your lifetime is how more maturity [Please read psychological maturity] you have attained since you started thinking. Unfortunately, in this materialistic life, i don't see aging and maturity go hand in hand.

again, maturity is relative term. The first way of assessing is to compare your self with that of another one's of same age. this is rude and can be variable. this depends upon how really mature, the other person is [Even excluding observer's bias]. the second way is to assess one self with himself as compared to his deeds in the past. ie., maturity evolution as you may call it. some are blessed with good amount of maturity even at an early age as does jesus and vivekananda. the good example of the second categorty maturity is sage valmiki.

as age advances, physical body gets worn and torn and ideally, the spiritual mind should get start awakened. if this happens to anyone, he would definitely welcome aging.

Like we have mental age, chronologial age, radiological age, shall we coin [Neologism] maturity age? How many would go across age 25 in it when our physical age crosses 50?

Let us self assess ourselves*

Happy aging!

Thanks for the wishes Muthiah. I think you can patent 'maturity age' as one of the developmental markers!
